Chloroprene rubber (CR), commonly known as neoprene, represents a synthetic class of elastomers with unique insulating properties.

 

Chemical structure

 

The chemical structure of neoprene consists of chloroprene, a polymer obtained by polymerization

of chloroprene monomers. The addition of chlorine atoms to the polymer chain gives the rubber

increased resistance to alternating temperatures and chemical influences

compared to natural rubber.
